Subject: Summerfest

Another hot and smokey weekend for the BBQ Battle at Brantford Summerfest this year! Had a terrific time as usual, despite having the worst headache of my life until about 9 am Saturday. Some hilights for the Qfan:
- Meeting Smokin' Jim. First Canadian bbq enthusiast I ever came across on the internet when I got access to a home computer 5 years ago or so; terrific guy and great to have finally met him in person.
- The response to, and performance of, Bryan Brown's new cooker which we've dubbed the Texas Hibatchi (or how about the Brown Bomber)? It worked like a charm and Bryan should be damn proud of all that hard work!
- The success of Derrin and Earl and also Vince and Wayne after a bit of a rough outing in Paris. Congratulation!
Also, I received a call from Mop earlier tonight, and he was telling me about the Weekend Warriors competition. I just want to pass along my personal 'congratulations' to a fellow teammate, Scotty Mahon, who entered the WW comp and hit the podium in 2 of the 3 categories! Way to go Scotty! It sounds like Peter Knight-Chevalier did a great job of organizing things for the WW, as did Bruce Jacobson, Mark McKenzie and crew and everyone else involved in pulling off the BBQ Battle for 2002.
