Subject: Need Help - Chat Room & Dinner for 24

Hello all,

Well it's my second post and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through the archives. I have the member registration and will be sending it in shortly. But I have 2 questions.

Question 1: How do I join in the Chat room? 8 pm Ontario time, I think that is 6 pm here in Alberta. What is the address, login, procedure, etc? What do you talk about and can I join in?

Question 2: In 2 weeks is my son's first birthday and my wife has invited 24 people. If you have ready my original post, I have been patient and done alot of self education about BBQ and think I understand the basics, but my experience is so limited. My original post was that I was thinking to build a homemade offset firebox smoker so that I could have one like the pros. If your going to do it, may as well do it right, right? Well, as I gather more information, it sounds like a WSM might be just the smoker for me. Anyhow, my question is......Should I just go out and buy a WSM and forget about this offset firebox box stuff, being that I am a newbie to Q? And the second part to the question is, do you guys think that I could figure out how to use the WSM in time to do a cook in 2 weeks for 24 people? I would love to hear suggestions about the smoker choice, if you think 2 weeks would be too soon and what you think I should cook.
