I think the first thing you need to let him know it that he is not the only one. If you have not got in contact with other dyslexics please try and do so. It helps to speak to others with the same difficulties.

Apart from that I would say to him that there is no rush. I know he probably wants to be there with his friends, but my be he has to except that he cant right now but with a little bit of help and time he could even do better then his friends.

He is young and in the UK there is losts of ways to help dyslexic people. If he is not getting specialist teaching already, i would sujest that he does. It is amazing how much a dyslexic can improve. We are quite clever and do get better.

I know a girl who is in Uni doing a masters in Education, she is a mature student but she will do well. She is dyslexic.

There is so much that you can do, I could write for ages. But I think that you can start with that.

Now may be there is no Dyslexia support group or association in your area. Well the net is good, but if not try and get intouch with some one close by. And if you really care not just for your son, but for Dyslexic chids, do what I am doing. Start something up yourself.

I hope that this has helped. Let me know if it has and if i can be of any more help.

God bless you
Stu
