If you read the newspapers and bias your opinion of all believers based on the acts of a minority of self-proclaimed christians who live in accordance with their own agendas which do not follow God's teachings, then I can see how you would come to that conclusion. Don't form an opinion of God based on the sinful acts of men. It's so easy to do that, and so many people do it because it allows them to self-justify their reasons for being willfully ignorant of God. I used to do that, too. -- >Made no effect in the past.
