>Yeah, its called tyranny.
So, God is a tyrant? By whose standards? Instead of trying to conform God to your standards, try accepting the fact that his supreme intelligence may result in things that your limited intelligence cannot understand, such as death and suffering.
God invented space, time, and matter. It is the realm in which he created for mankind. God Himself is not bound by the laws of physics. Eternity is a concept which we cannot fathom, because we are bound by the laws of physics in which everything has a beginning, an end, and a place in space in which it occupies.
People ask "So where did God come from? What existed before God?" That's because man is ignorantly limited to thinking in the realm of space, time, and matter. Just knowing that your creator is so far beyond the scope of your intelligence should give you some feeling of humbleness. And yet, so many people continue to be willfully ignorant of the Lord and form their own concept of Him based solely on what makes sense to them.
The Bible is the word of God. If you want to know him, and if you want your eyes to be opened like they've never been before, you must read and absorb the word of God. I did that, and I asked the Holy Spirit to come into my heart and change me, and that's is what happened. It was a divine intervention, just as it is with all those who accept Jesus as their savior. The Holy Spirit took a diehard skeptic and evolutionist (me) and turned him 180 degrees into a follow of Christ. What led to my change was that as someone with a scientific mind, it was always open to ideas. I learned about God with an open mind, and the more knowledge I received, the more my eyes were opened to the Lord. This is the Holy Spirit at work. This is what I pray for all skeptics to experience.

My example of the kids running with scissors was just an analogy, silly. It wasn't intended to be analyzed literally through lawyers' glasses. ;)

God did not cause the Dark Ages. Man did. Just because you'd accept the Bible is the inerrant, literal word of God does not mean you'd have to become Amish or involuntarily pay a handsome percentage of your income to the Church. I am the owner of a successful company. My life is a lot of hard work with a healthy balance of leisure mixed in. I'm the typical guy you'd meet on the street and strike up a conversation with. I'm a Green Bay Packers Fan, I like all types of music, and I enjoy eating out at various restaraunts. And two years ago, I was saved by the grace of God. Compared to the last two years of my life, I WAS living in the Dark Ages.
