Subject: So, let's chat about MMWK (r)-

Why? Because I just finished re-watching that arc. *g*

In the abstract - it was/is a really stupid plot line that contridicts, or makes really, really hard to work out the logistics of, much of what came before.

On the other hand - granting the bizzarnes and continuity problems --- I continue to be impressed with just how well they actually pulled it off.

I remember some of the anticipatory MMWK fic that came out - and none of it was as clever as what TPTB actually made canon.

The arc also offered some really nice role-reversal elements for Michael and Nikita - in particular the way she and operations use Michael's feelings for Nikita to make him do something he clearly had no intention of doing otherwise. Given some of my own fic interests, I particularly like the way this pulls their relationship firmly out of the mentor/mentee dynamic as she steps in to do what he won't/can't, and into one of - if not perfect equality, he still out ranks her - much closer to colleagues.

I had also forgotten (never noticed) that in this ep, Operations himself implies that he was a POW for a long time.

The only thing I had to fastforward through was the Walter/Birkoff busines of trying to blackmail operations. It was painful the first time - unwatchable to me this time round... which I suppose in some sense is a tribute to the characters and the actors who portrayed them! I so completely believe in the reality of Walter and Birkoff that watching them act like idiots who are going to get their heads handed to them on a plater is unbearable! *g*
