What tips the balance for me, though, as I've mentioned before, is that while Paul and Nikita share a good many characteristics, there's something about his evil glee when he defeats/outwits an opponent that I find somehow disarming. He *enjoys* winning, in a way that Nikita doesn't. It's a shame that she doesn't -- but if she did she'd be hard to sell as a mainstream heroine, so there you go.

It would have been a difficult sell. So difficult that they never dared to write an episode where Nikita a) won, and b) got to enjoy it. Every single victory was bitter for her.

Come to think on it - she could get pretty scary if she really started to win rewards she actually cared to have, at which point winning itself could become a drug .......which might be a fascinating post S5 story to play with.... hmmmm. ;-)
