Subject: Wednesday roundup (r) ((on an actual Wednesday!))

In the most recent metafandom there is a link to this interesting post on AU Fanfic.

Much of the post is involved in defining types of AU, and LFN has all of them!, and the particular challenges of each type. The discussion that follows is also interesting, in particular I thought this comment from minisinoo captured what has continued to fascinate me over the years, as a reader and as an author, with AU fanfic.

Recently AU has seemed particularly popular among LFN fanfic readers and writers - and I'm wondering if this is particular to our fandom - or something that many closed canon series go through?
