I personally would probably make an effort to contact the people whose permission you don't already have. We know many of the e-mail addresses are probably dead, but it might be worth the effort to avoid any issues later on and at least try and give people the heads-up. If you'd like some help sending out e-mails, let me know.

Regardless, it's your site, you do a boatload of work, and I think it's your call.

(As a side topic, I find it interesting that the general opinion here so far is "If it was public once, it's fair game." I don't disagree from a practical standpoint, but if I were to need to pull all my stuff from the internet, I'd hope people would respect my wishes. Since there was recently a bit of kerfuffle on the Name That Story board about sending saved stories to people, it's stirred up thoughts about fandom, fannish entitlement, and privacy. And ranma, none of this is directed at you -- I'm musing in a general sense, and you're a wonderful, sensible, ethical archivist who tries very hard to balance the authors' wishes against the community.)
