The DPSRS acronym almost flew over my head!

>1 General Dynamics
>2 ITT Industries
>3 Progressive Corporation
>4 Yahoo
>5 Ebay
>6 Peabody Energy
>7 Network Appliance
>8 Wachovia Corporation
>9 Monsanto
>10 Genentech

I was sad to see no Rockwell Intl :-)

...but on second look General Dynamics partners with ROK!

Ran across this:

http://www.publicintegrity.org/pns/db.aspx?act=cinfo&coid=961941531

(What happened in 2003?)

And this:

http://www.publicintegrity.org/pns/list.aspx?act=top

ROK coming in at a mere 61 of the top 100 with a paltry 1.7 billion in contracts.

So now the following question just popped into my brain:

1) Discretionary pentagon budget 2005: $401.7 billion (probably a few billion larger with unlisted items);

2) Jobs are filled and taxes are levied with that money;

Not snark: Do you think public schools benefit the more we spend on the military? Do you think teachers benefit, too, if military contractors are in their RS?

Perhaps put another way, could schools and teachers and anyone else who receives or provides government services benefit if some of the money that went into the Pentagon were invested in other areas, biomass, for example? Just asking.
