your #10, Genentech was just named best company to work for by Fortune...its a cancer fighting team....(95% of its workers are shareholders): www.gene.com

They employ wizards of science and engineering to perform wizardry in molecular oncology. scientists who are obsessively pursuing answers and solutions for cancer. Many folks who previously worked in university settings....

Here's an interesting phenomena to me, and I wonder what percentage of prevalency in terms of medical research going on in world today is done by private companies and funded privately like genetech compared to research universities who may receive a mojority of funds from govt.

The other question I have that pjk inspired via his statement: "I don't know the history, but it appears as though more and more people and companies take advantage of the tax payer subsidized work and then turn aroudn and "privatize" the work and charge the public again."

is this: if a company has access to govt. funded
research findings say, for example, information regarding the application of a biomass installation (we will assume that the research also provided legitimacy concerning its efficacy)
(like the $23 million in govt.biomass research funding given out last year)

...what would be equitable compensation for managing the installation of this biomass project...what would pjk or anyone else require as fair compensation to the 'tax payer' for putting up the initial funds to research the subject?

should they give a percentage of their profits back to the govt? a break to the consumer over a period of time?

one biomass company in New Mexico,(and I am unfamiliar with how and even if they used any ones reasearch to develop their company) Althouse Inc., is offering them free, along with free installation, to northern New Mexico commercial properties that spend more than $100,000 on their heating bills with the disclaimer that the client has to be willing
to sign long-term contracts.

sounds like a great deal!
