Kathy inspired us to try the tri, and completed her first at a Danskin event in July, where she whupped up on some neighborhood ladies.

Completely smitten and a new Trek roadbike later, she inspired her land-bound husband to tri and learn how to swim. Which it turns out, hasn't happened just yet. But, good enough for the Waupaca triathlon which we did last weekend with our friends the Bartkowski's and another guy from my running/ski group. It was a lot of fun - well organized, nice volunteers, good food, weather (well, except the thunderstorm and pouring rain at the start of swim - they did delay the start 1/2 hour to be safe). We hung out at Kathy's parents afterward, caught a few bands at the Harbor Bar, and enjoyed the lakes with the kids.

(Kathy was #200, I was 201)

A lot less wear n' tear on the body then straight running.
