may one never mistake my optimism and confidence in my own pursuits for callous disregard and lack of concern for my fellow man. i don't need to restate or describe the poverty i live amongst or the volunteer work that paula and i do :

[paula takes the kids to recess everyday because the teacher won't do it; she teaches catechism at the church, i coach bball and little league; we watch others' kids who are less fortunate and kids who listen to stuff from their parents that scares ME; support for the down and out up and down the block is not easy to balance but we try. etc etc etc. we are not saints but we give]

i too ponder the concept of "trickle down" economics and its longterm viability.

capitalism's eternal consumerifics and consumption.

natural resources.
land ownership.
taxes.
borders that contain and restrain the free flow of the migrating humanity [myself included]
nuclear weapons.
nationalism.

at the same time i respect everyone's choice and the power of free will and am humbled by the forces that move contemporary currents of society.

art has a voice dictated by more than chance. some will listen to the muse that guides the past as it writes a future.

no matter what i think we'll be OK.
no matter how good things are i think the best is yet to come.
no matter how bad things are i think the worst is yet to come.

can't win; can't lose.

we're here through it all.
