thanks Tz for all these links...I actually read this article on Bush's foreign policy after coming back from not going to the circus last night. The most critical part of the essay for me was the last section:

“The Bush Administration Has the Right Strategy but
>Implements It Badly”
>
>No. The goals are unachievable because
>the means and ends are out of sync.
>
But the effort to crush terrorists
>and destroy rogue regimes through preemption,
>hegemony, and unilateralism shatters great power
>harmony and diverts resources and attention from the
>development agenda. An effective strategy cannot be
>sustained when the methods employed to erect one
>pillar drastically undermine the others.> Waging preventive wars>requires basing rights throughout the Middle East and
>Central Asia. To satisfy its military needs, the
>United States must sign agreements with and support
>repressive, even heinous, regimes that despise
>democratic principles.

Can tz or anyone share specific examples of this last statement?

also anyone read or hear of the Duelfer report out today? (or tomorrow?) http://www.cia.gov/cia/reports/iraq_wmd_2004/index.html
