Lynne you raise some good points and I agree with a lot of the comments that you have made. Some of them I also disagree with....I am not ashamed to show the Speke church to my family in any way, since some of them are interred there. Compared to the Speke that I grew up in, the present day Speke is a terrible place to live. My attack is made on all of those people who do not contribute to the community and cause the church to adopt cctv cameras and razor wire as protection against vandalism. As for the houses boarded up....I have yet to see a house that has been refurbished and the windows boarded while half the slates are missing from the roof. Refurbishment of any home would be defeated if the roof leaked. Possibly there are some homes protected in this manner which has the tendancy to enforce my argument. There should be no need to board up the windows of any home in a civilised society.
I care very much about Speke and that is why I spend many voluntary hours promoting Speke through the world wide web and this site,I have no need to, but it is because I care what happens to Speke, that I do so. How many other interactive Speke community sites do you see on the web apart from this one and your own? As you are aware it is very easy to eradicate a posting on your site if you don't like the content but I believe that we live in a democracy which affords us the freedom of speech and the right to criticize anything under the sun, one doesn't ever lose that right even when moving away from Speke. I have not presented any personal verbal attack on any individual and I will not do so on the internet but I do stand by my opinion of Speke and is my right to do so. Sometimes the truth does hurt.....c'est la vie.
