Hello Carol....Now I am really confused. You suggest that the comments that I have made, to be, "more than a little sad". You go on to confirm and agree with everything that I have stated namely:

The area suffers from vandalism.
Speke has suffered a great downturn.
The church is closed opening only for services.
There is graffiti on the church.
The roofs are protected by wire and cctv.
Conditions in Speke changed for the worse but are improving.

These were my original comments made about Speke which you have now confirmed....nice to have you on my side.

I try not to look at the situation through rose tinted glasses because I know that things will not get better if I stick my head in the sand and ignore them. I understand and accept that Speke Estate is evolving slowly with the aid of major long term investments being made in the area.

My comments were open and honest and it was my understanding and assumption that everyone was aware of the good things that were happening to the area. When I asked many of the local people what they thought about conditions in Speke, they confirmed my fears about the above listed problems. After hearing many Spekeites voice their concerns and, in the same breath, inform me that nobody is doing anything to correct the situation. I decided to have a go and bring it before the world. I am not interested in correcting the goods things because they will happen in any event. I am concerned with bringing about change in the bad things that are happening to Speke.

I believe that we both have the same end product in mind, save and for, I address the problem from the gutter and you address the problem as though through the eyes of Mary Poppins. I trust that we will both attain our goal for a better Speke.

Best wishes....Tom
