Then again, if it is a town service (after a merger) then I would have no problem having the town subsidize the water dept on some issues (such as new buildings, vehicles, other capital items).

Otherwise, the same argument you had for the other depts would be the same.. why not have an enterprize fund for trash, police, fire, snow, etc.

We are one town, and should be able to move funds as necessary (clearly documented and explained) as the taxpayers may feel that one item should take on a significant priority over another during difficult times.

I do believe in setting clear budgets, and living to them, but dont think we should have to have elected boards for every service in the town.

I know we would all prefer to be able to find a way to make the cable and gas companies more accountable to the town... but their services cross towns, thus must be dealt with at a state level.
