is that the information about the abuse of the prisoners was reported months ago (last year actually) by the ICRC and was reported in overseas newspapers and alternative news websites. It wasn't a story over here until 60 Minutes got ahold of it. At that point, it could no longer be ignored.

Embarassment isn't the issue. The last excuse for the Iraq war was something about freeing the Iraqis from Saddam and his "rape rooms" and torture and horrific prisons and all that. We have now shown ourselves to be right down there on old Saddam's level, completely burning the bridge of our moral superiority. How can we not hang our heads in shame in front of the world community? Is this why Bush "un-signed" our agreement to join the International Criminal Court?

That unfortunate guy from PA who was there of his own volition, was told to get out, but he instead gambled with his life and lost.
