I'm sorry, but you're wrong. This is not a community issue, this is a private school issue. Did the entire Dracut community benefit because the school budget paid in the past to bus private school children out of town? No, a small group of people did.

I'm curious, if you know and approve so much of what Pelham does for it's private school, why don't you live there? It obviously has more of what you're looking for in a community.

This whole incident, in my eyes, had two different facets--the budget part and the behavior of the people involved. If you reread my post, you'll see I discussed both in two separate groups. The two were not co-mingled.

The term "Christian" was used because I didn't want to specify any one religion so, instead, the generic term was chosen.

Vicki, if you were not one of the rude, obnoxious people at the meeting, then this posting did not pertain to you and there's no need for you to take it personally. The religion and busing issues were not related. The hypocrisy of people who consider themselves above reproach because they claim to be religious or "Christian" is what I was complaining about. They will be the first ones to stand on their religious principles, yet have no problem whatsoever putting down someone with a different opinion. Is this what they are teaching their children?

I stand corrected on my comment about showing up at Town Meeting and the School Committee meeting. You are right--special interest groups abound everywhere and are certainly entitled to choose whomever they wish to represent them in office. Yes, I was being sarcastic. As someone who's been actively involved in the schools and the community, it always amazes and disgusts me to see people who can't be bothered to do either until their one issue is affected.
