Hi Gill;
I am just a guy who one morning woke up light headed. I had had this incredible experience of being one with everything. But I couldn’t figure out what it meant. I thought and thought about it. It felt like everything was in me(consciousness) and yet I(body) was clearly in it.
I spent a lot of time on this problem. And my conclusion was, that the whole experience was really very logical and even scientific.
When we human beings see something, light that has been reflected from an object gets picked up by the lens of our eye, and focused as an inverted image on the retina. In the eye, some highly specialized cells behind the retina recognize different patterns and wavelengths of light, and convert the inverted image to electrical impulses which travel along the optic nerve to the visual center at the back of the head. This is where your mind creates a picture of what you see, according to science. The interesting thing is, that picture is not made from light. No light gets into your brain. That picture is made from some electric neural code that carries all the information about what you have seen to the back of the head visual center. The picture to you appears as a light, bright, and illuminated scene, but it is made without light! The actual light, or what we call light, is made inside of your brain somewhere and becomes a visual mental image. What we see as outside, is inside of us, just like it feels with an Awakening experience. What we see is an illusion, not the real world like most people think. What we see is a mental picture, a reasonable facsimile of what actually is, supposedly.
Anyway, this kind of thinking caused me a lot of problems for years. I am still light headed even today! Haa.
So Gill….if you would like to feel a little more comfortable with being trapped in Paradise, you may want to think about this scientific explanation. It is sound and logical, and I believe any sensible scientific person would have to agree with it. It means, of course, that the normal intuitive way of seeing everything outside is backwards. And so it is!
