I think I was being called on the Hypermasculine. That means you are the Umpire here! Ha. Please let me try and rationalize my way out.
I propose a new complete integration, where all separate fields of inquiry about existence fit together as a functioning whole.
I have heard two men, that I admire, recently say the same shocking thing…. Spirituality is dead. Even after you know that Saniel and Ken Wilber have both said this, it still hurts to read it. But their description is beautiful and makes up for the shock. There are no boundaries! No fields are separate, and spirituality as a separate pursuit is over. Spirituality can not be talked about disconnected from science for example. There is no separation between consciousness and matter, between physics and psychology, nor between love and electricity….there are no boundaries between any of the arguing fields claiming soverignty over knowing life. Everything is connected to everything else. There is no Ascendance separate from Descendence, no being separate from the mind.
You are correct in not simply eliminating the mind with your King/Queen analogy, only rearranging priorities and identities. The mind does make a better servant that a master, and now there is a new job for the mind: to serve in Integration.
Divine and human are one. Absolute and Relative are one. Spirit and Science are one. That means we need to see the connection as well as be that connection. We need an empirical validation of what we internally recognize as Onlyness. The conventional world is not thrown out with Awakening, we must deal with it.
There is the inner: consciousness, Emptiness, Self, Witness, Nirvakalpa. These are states that we experience. There is the outer: the empirical, the physical, the material/energy, the stuff of the universe.. These are the truths of absolute and relative. But they need to be integrated! The integration, and understanding,( yes, using the mind), is the future of our journey. Explanations, like how the brain becomes mind, as I have tried to explain to Gill, are the connections that will bring all Science and Art and Spirit together. Spirit can not ignore science any more than science can continue to ignore spirit. My views can be seen as Hypermasculine attempts to avoid fear through explanation, or, as I believe, building the inevitable bridges of understanding between the seemingly disconnected realms of consciousness and matter. We can “be” this Unity of two realms, AND we can understand it.
