Gill- don't know if you remember me from Ojai. We Core Energeticized together. I'm from Chicago, if that helps to jog your memory . . . .
Personally, I feel welcome to laugh in WD, for whatever reason. Still, one thing I think that's being pointed up here by Cherie and Gill is that, already in this young "school", there is (or are) a certain type(s) that are "rewarded" as outwardly seeming to fit some WD ideal. This isn't in the writings, but I have encountered it in my precious few encounters at various WD events.
Those who present themselves as "heart" people (as if they have a monopoly on this organ/center) seem to be regarded as if no discrimination need be applied to their own tendencies. "Stomach" people are viewed with suspicion- they must be up to something. And "mind" people- well, I've already written about that above.
QUALIFICATION (of course): I'm not coming down on "heart" people. As I wrote above, I don't think anyone is purely one "type" according to any taxonomy. It's just that groups always share certain assumptions, and those assumptions tend to go largely uninspected. And naturally I feel paranoid in writing this, for fear of even broaching these issues. I don't offer this so much as a criticism- it seems this kind of situation arises predictably in any group dynamic. Maybe it's enough to notice it consciously rather than be duped and lulled into it unconsciously.
Kate: while I agree in principle with your assessment of labeling, the fact remains that we do it, intentionally or not, to ourselves as well as others. It ain't pretty, but it seems to be the case. Merely seeing that labels are unnecessary and problem-making in themselves doesn't erase the tendency. At least it hasn't for me.
