I, actually, have been in contact with a fellow OEM owner in Sikeston. He posted this on a site I regular and has been updating it. While I have been trying to get support from the Mastiff Owners, this BSL hits home. I will cross post his last reply:

" This is a copy of the mastiff definition straight out of the ordinance that is being proposed
MASTIFF DOG -Defined
a. The Mastiff breed of dog.
b. any dog which has the apperance and characteristics of being predominantly of the breed of mastiff or any dog commonly known or reffered to as a mastiff.
c. Dog of mixed breed or of other breeds than above listed which breed or mixed breed is known as a Mastiff or any dog commonly known or refered to as mastiff.
first problem to me is obvious it says commonly refered to as a Mastiff- Does this mean if a group of people start calling my poodle a mastiff he is one well of course not but how this is worded it would have the poodle fall into that class since he is commonly refered to as mastiff - I know that analogy is a strech but I am sure you see what I mean.
Next Problem is that it says has apperance or characteristics of a mastiff.
ok see I know what my mastiff looks like but does the person who owns the great dane or saint bernard know that those are also of the mastiff breed and the characteristics of all 3 breeds of mastiffs are distinctly different from each other.
how many other breeds of Mastiffs are there that have different characteristics
which mastiff are they refering to? bull, corso, english,st bernard, great dane, tiberian
I could go on and I am sure you see my point allready this is vague as they come.
it is like calling a labordor retreiever and a golden retriever the same breed because they are both retrievers.
The Bottom line is this BSL are about as effective as taking the keys away from red car owners to prevent drunk driving.
The issue isn't the breed in reality it is the tempermant and deamenor of the individual(mmc)dog
Jon and Carolyn"
