hey guys....

thanks aidah and weiling for the bday greetings... 20 is not that old ok aidah? wait till YOU turn 20...

anyway, i arrived yesterday and spent a great deal of time traveliing from the airport to my host family. it was a real long train ride.. taxis are really expensive here... so i had o take the rail which meant we had to make a big circle around half of toyko... and it:s really hot now... i was sweating like a pig... plus i had to lug my luggage while switching trains quite a few times...

today was my orientation, we had to take a test to determine our standard of japanese... and for the first time in my life, i handed in a blank sheet. haha.. thought that would never happen to me... because i didn:t study anything before i left... so i knew nuts.. well i could guess some of the japanese words because they wrote it in the chinese form but i think htat is considered rather advanced so that did not appear on the test... doh! so haha... handed in a blank sheet.

the grp of us headd for lunch.... it was sooooo expensive! but the way we ordered was quite interesting... we had to put the money in a vending machine... then se;ect the food fro,m the pictures... and then this little ticket comes out, which you hand over to the waitress who writes the table number where you are sitting at... the noodles was good... better be.. it was about s$9.50.... =P

tokyo reminds me of singapore really... the subway and the buildings and the shopping... althought hey do have very interesting gadgets... (hairdryers alone, like in singapore maybe you have two shelves of diff hairdryers and curlers and what not... we saw abt 10 shelves...) with the subway, it:s was rather confusing at first but i think i got used to it esp since singapore has the mrt as well... so iwas so proud that i didn:t get lost on my way back....(give me some credit here... on my way back, i had to switch trains 3 times and their stations are HUGE!!)

so maybe not all japanese are like the weird crazy kind we see in the papers... most of them i see wear the same working attire or clothes... but maybe just be the districts that you are in... i:m going shopping tmr!! yay! haha... maybe in shinjuku where supposedly all the funky pple hang out... will let you guys know if i see anything interesting! =)
