I do believe that we as citizens have to defend our rights to or freedoms, but shouldn't we evolve in the ways that we defend our rights. I believe that there should be an outlet to the draft, and "escape" from the draft. I have the choice to work, or go to school, or to have a family. It is MY CHOICE, therefore it should be my choice if I want to fight. The freedom of choice for all citizens of this country is built into the bill of rights. The third amendment does not state, "you must pick up your arms and invade and destroy a country of your choosing." Higher education should not be elimitated as an appropriate means of dodging the draft. As the proposal sits now a person who is in school can be drafted and must report at the end of their current semester, no matter how far they are in their education. A person who is in their last year of med school and be drafted and will be imprisoned by the government if they decide it is more important to finish school than to fight. There is something very wrong with that type of draft.

Would we be wrong or politically incorrect to draft an Iraqi person who has been given US citizenship to go and fight against Iraq? My guess is that that person would hold some sort of immunity to being drafted because of politcal implication or backlash. I believe that it would be American born citizens that would be drafted to fight for the rights of future immigrants. And when those young Americans are dead then it would be foreign students and professionals from "liberated countries" that would take American jobs.

Shouldn't we as citizen of this country spend more energy on making our voice heard by challenging the current electorial college than by fighting every country in the world?
