So you are contending that things would be better if we'd have just dropped the bomb?

Where do I even start with something like that?????

Okay - point 1: the infrastructure and civil order would have blown out as badly, perhaps even more so, given the use of nuclear weapons. I have the feeling you know this.

Point 2: The reason that the infrastructore and civil order were destroyed so easily and quickly was that there was almost no infrastructure and order to begin with. I am tired of hearing about all of the wrongs we have done the Iraqi people - these people were in a world of denial if they contend that there was anything at all nice about living in Iraq previous to the war. Saddam led a horrible regime marked by governmental misguidance, sadism, and state sanctioned slaughters of 'unfavorable' ethnic and religious groups.

We can say whatever we like about the presence of WMD's in hindsight, but the intelligence indicated the possibility of them and Saddam called us out. Well - he loses, and the Iraqi's are better for it.

Point 3: We already maintain an uncomfortably tenuous hold on nuclear authority in the world. If we show that we are willing to just use the bomb, then other nations will use that as license to show the same. India/Pakistan, N. Korea/S. Korea, Russia/Chechnya, ASU/UA, and so on. We may be finished with the cold war, but the ideals behind MAD remain the same.

And stop with the moronic "line the pockets of the President" crap - you are smarter than that. I hope the raw sewage they're forcing you to work near has not penetrated so deep as to affect your thinking, but it sounds like it may just have.
