if one is going to declare war, then one had better be DAMN sure one has one's facts CORRECT.

as for the "intelligence" from the CIA that WMD existed, I cannot help but believe in the core of my being that the spooks and spies KNEW what the CIC (commander in chief) wanted to hear and they made the avaiable info fit his need.

reminds me of "The Emperor's New Clothes" -- the fairy tale.

independent agency, schmindependent agency. ha -- "here's the action I want to take, give me the justification." IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY -- it isn't just a bush thing.

it happens in science and welfare and medicine and anywhere you want to look. we are trained from birth to fill in the spaces/voids with what we want and expect to see. (that after all is what the medium of TV is all about -- not the message, mind you -- but the medium -- our brain fills in the spaces/voids between the pixals. and thus we "learn" to do it in all aspects of life.)

if you were more your own man instead of so blindly stuck on bush, you might garner my vote. humans are gonna make mistakes - and the biggest mistake is trying to justify or excuse a prior mistake. it is rather like trying to cut a hole of a blanket. the more of the original hole you cut out, the bigger the new hole becomes.
