You are absolutely correct regarding the Aldis Lamp and the M-227. These were not used by pathfinders.

The Delta lamp was used in a modified form in trials at the pathfinder school in Comisco Sicily and found to be unsuitable-I beleive because it was too directional. to a hardcore Pathfinder collector such an item is a good addition however it was never used in combat operations.

A variety of improvised lights were used in tests including a light on a pole in a can, as well as a number of TL-122 flashlights taped to a pole.

The Holophane light was not an improvised item. These were made in numbers which were more than sufficient to meet the demand in England and the only clear photograph I have ever seen of one clearly shows the standard signal corps, as seen on radios, and army air force markings in yellow paint. These utilized the same tripod as the M-227.
This photograph is of what may well be the only such holophane lamp known.

There is a lot of confusion stemming from Moran's book on Pathfinders-which those who know the field regard as worthless.
