Subject: Product review: Garcia Aviation

After much procastination I finally ordered an inert reproduction of a 1/2 cc Morphine Tartrate Syrette as well as a reproduction Wound Tablet (Sulfadiazine) box from Garcia Aviation.

I can tell you that I am very happy with the syrette. It is the proper size and looks correct. The price was better than that charged for the comparably made reproduction offered by Stan Wolcott (about $15.00 as opposed to $25.00).

The Wound tablet box was purchased on an impulse.

As some of you know I have been laboring on the graphics for this item for some time and have experienced delays Wear on my original has resulted the partial information with respect to these graphics.

The graphics on the repro box are more complete and should prove helpful in finishing my repro.

The repro box offered by Garcia aviation consists of a number of scans of an original mated together using a graphics program and printed out on white cardstock. The box itself is filled with two pieces of unevenly sized coregated stock of the type used for boxes with a hole cut in the middle. presumably this is to allow for rigidity of the product while allowing one to fill it with aspirine or what ever one might desire to place in it.

The uneven sizing of the pieces used for the filelr renders a lop sided apearance to the box.

I initial impression is that the wound tablet box is a very cheaply done knockoff of an original, showing little attention to quality. I might pay $1.00 to $2.00 for the item just for the graphics but would definately balk at the $6.50 price tag.

I have grown accustomed to clean graphics on reproduction paper items. I see no excuse for the lack of quality and the high price commanded by Garcia Aviation's paperwork.

Shipping and handling for the two items amounted to $4.95. This covered the cost of placing the items in a plastic zip-lock bag, and packing said bag in a US Postal service Priority mail carton with a half sheet of newspaper.
Actual shipping cost them $4.06 and they grossed 79 cents for the baggie and paper. What ever happened to the "cost of doign business?"

In synopsis:

As is often the case with suppliers of a wide variety reproduction items, the quality of different products offered can vary. One item may excell while another can be a complete waste of money. This proved to be true in my recent purchase from Garcia Aviation.

I would definately recomend the morphine syrette. Quality is good, Price is good even with the inflated handling charge.

There are a lot of bad repro syrettes on the market. This one is good. So is Stan Wolcott's although his is higher priced than Garcia Aviation's.

Unfortunatley I can not recomend the wound tablet box. The cheapness of this item makes me balk with respect to purchasing any of there other paper items as well.
