relief smoothed the final stubborn tenseness that rested in the muscles of the mascu. languidly he swept his cania toward the femme, pinpointing her postion from the single echoing consonant. he immediately liked her. it was her voice. sweet and gentle. and although he was aware of the unnerving quality of his sightless stare he nevertheless suffered her it for the sake of politeness. with a quiet smile that reached only the length of his labrums he demonstrated the silent thank you for not leaving him hanging. his next words were less hesitant, more rich in the musicality of their tone.
Who are you? tell me something of yourself. you seem an interesting character. my name is Syndic, by the way.
he added this last as an afterthought, rebounding from the silence of the sentence before hand. he wasn't interested in talking of himself. the questions immediately put forth held not a twinge of hesitation, or embarassment at their less than formal nature. he had grown accustomed to asking the blunt, rather obvious questions. how else was he to gather such information? his eyes could not alert him to the moods, the expressions, the depth of the chasms that served for sight, yes, but so much more. for the moment he bit back the 'describe yourself to me.' and 'can i touch you'. as he was unsure still of the nature in hostility for the members of the valley. but so far, this was the most in depth his conversations had been. the last he'd had had ended abruptly with his uttering an accursed four line poem. the effects were usually enough to set strangers to avoiding him. with an inward sigh he turned again to this other. the glow of salvation still illumintaed her presence for him, and even as it faded the smile remained stubborny set upon his features. he felt akin to her in some way. as yet he was unsure how, but the connection was there. and it drew his mind away from somber analysations
