Subject: I'm Not One to Gossip...so you didn't hear this from me!

I wonder, briefly, what the percentage is of actors/actresses that are successful in the jump from the small screen to the big one?

We have our BTVS/ATS friends who have had mixed success, at most:

There's Sarah herself; now perhaps she hasn't been in many A+ fliks on the silver screen, but she has held on at least. Especially in her private life which is really the best form of success, isn't it?

Ally wisely went back to TV (much like DAvid Caruso!) and while I can't claim to really enjoy HOw I Met Your MOther, I still do love Allison H.

Julie Benz is so amazing! I 'liked' her on ATS/BTVS and loved her on Dexter.

Of course, David B. is doing well on Bones, however I noticed some negative reviews lately for the show's writing. I still think David is best on Bones, better then as Angel.

James Marsters has always been a bit of paradox for me anyway. As much as I loved Spike, I never quite 'got' James. It's a personal thing so whatever.

Charisma is a beautiful woman, however, again she just can't seem to get an even break on the screen, who knows why?

I think Tony does better with classics, maybe it's the accent?

As far as non-alums of BTVS and ATS:

As mentioned before, David Caruso just couldn't seem to pull the rabbit out of his hat and survive the big screen. He's doing well on TV again so hey, he's happy right?

Bruce Willis of course has to be the top dog of success move stories: Moonlighting led to so much more. I think he wins.

Meg Ryan started on As The World Turns, but although she acts now and again, she seems to have faded out again on the silver screen.

Sarah Jessica Parker started on Square Pegs (that ages me!) and went on to star, star, star.

Jennifer Aniston still stars on anything they can think of so she qualifies as a big success story.

I wonder if anyone comes on and sees this...can you think of more? I can.

LOve YAH

Sorry to say, but SMG just doesn't light up the screen. She was born to play Buffy and did to perfection, but but on the big screen she gives off zero heat.

Anthony Head, Amber Benson, and Seth Greene are best natural actors, but only he made the jump to movies.

** spoiler **
Julie Benz scored with Dexter, but... well have you seen this week's finale?

David Boreanez is donig fine on Bones, Allyson has HIMYM, Nick is on Criminal Minds, and James is on Caprica.

Michelle needs a few more years to get her mojo as an actress and she might do some serious stuff, i not there's always Lifetime.

Emma's busy with lots of small parts, and the occasional TV movie as is Charisma. Anthony is quite respected in England as a character actor.

If SMG's HBO series does well she might leverage that into another movie shot, but honestly I think she's hit her peak.

The best shot for a Buffy movie I think, is Joss & JJ Abrams team up, in which we get the original cast in an Alias-ized action blockbuster, or some other new female star (Jennifer Garner perhaps) does a grown up Slayer.

If you haven't seen Alis, I highly recommend it. I never got into it, partly due to it being on opposite something else I watched. Angel, maybe? Anyway, get the DVD's for season one at least, and then look for the Rimbaldi references in Star Trek.

He is King Uther in young Merlin and thats going strong.

Masters was Captain Jack in Torchwood essetially a proto Spike.
For a guy with his range he really needs to do different roles.

Benz also did Rambo4

SMG well (snicker) there is always scooby doo 15 "This time its personal" to do

ASH also just about to do a season onstage starring in Six Degrees of Separation at The Old Vic, London.

I'm there :-)

Biggest small to big screen success for me was George Clooney. Apart from Jennifer Aniston I can't think of many actresses that have done it.

I love Bones and agree that DG is better in that than he ever was on Buffy.

As someone else said, AH is starring in Merlin as Arthur's dad King Uther. It is a great show, and he is great in it. It is a huge hit in the UK and around the world. It has sold in every territory apart from Iceland (for some reason) and has just been commissioned for a 3rd series. The 2 young male leads who play Arthur (Bradley James) and Merlin (Colin Morgan), and who are very yummy see below (out of costume obviously), have become world famous.

It is both a ratings and a cult hit and the cast and writers do a lot of conventions etc. AH is always very complementary about sci-fi / fantasy fans saying how important they are to the success of a show, how loyal they are and how their keen attention to detail and encyclopaedic knowledge of the show keeps them on their toes. Could he possibly be referring to the Buffy fandom by any chance?

Little gift for you all

Had to comment. No way is David better on Bones than as Angel. I am watching Angel again now. He's great. Just as he was on Buffy. I find myself wondering if he doesn't miss saying the great lines he had on Joss's shows.

I really wish Sarah could find roles better suited to her talents. She is so good. I hate to see her wasted.

Maybe there just aren't that many good projects out there. I know I find myself watching less and less tv and going to fewer and fewer movies. I quit blockbuster online because there were so few movies I cared to see. Joss has me spoiled that is for sure.

I agree Del, David was much, much better on Buffy. I practically fall off my chair everytime I see him on the reruns of BTVS. I tried to watch Bones and really don't like it at all and think David was better brooding, mysterious and more romantic on Buffy.

The more I watch the reruns the more I believe Sarah was everything to the show. Without Joss's star I'm not sure BTVS would have turned out to be the great show it is.

I miss Joss's writing. I haven't found any tv writer yet to match him.

As you can tell, I miss BTVS so much!
