She was a great character, and Emma did a fabulous job with her. In fact, it's really hard to imagine any other actress who could embody Anya the way that Emma did.

She had a long long life (over 1,000 years, right?) and died, in the end, helping those silly humans she could never quite figure out.

Great post, sLaPpy.

Her speech in The Body was the first time I saw Anya as more than the comic relief and it caught me so off guard and yet at the same time completely within her character. It was the only part of that episode to get me choked up and still does so to this day.

Sure she died a brutal, and ultimately pointless, death. But before she did she figured out who she really was, a person who could risk her own future for the fight to protect the futures of others.
