Like the lightning of a snakes strike his head and neck are unfolded and sharp white teeth snap a hairs-breadth from the mares eye. Self is drawn back, legs prancing a quick two-step on the spot. Ears lay flat back 'gainst crest and eyes roll. Stands, then, calm and cold, ears move up to their customary position. His head lifts some and all of a sudden it is as if he never moved. Pray share the cause of your amusement? he asks in a mild tone I'm afraid thou hast rather left me behind.
