I don't know this for a fact but it would be worthwhile checking into. The South Beach diet is low in simple carbohydrates, and substitutes a lot of fish and lean proteins. With a little modification and discussion with your physician you could probably make it work for you, and lose the weight at the same time. My daughter was on it for just a few months and dropped thirty pounds very quickly after her baby. She also worked on fitness at the same time.

Many of the menu choices are healthy. I'd go on it, if I liked fish :-/

I worry about the diabetic thing. My mother is diabetic, insulin dependent for 30 years now. As I approach fifty the belly fat has been coming on, and I can't eat anything sweet without feeling like an impending coma will result.
