Oh Gary, I am so sad to hear that Zack still really can't walk well, that is just so horrible. does the vet have a diagnosis for what is wrong with him? is it his hips and spine? causing him to not be able to get up what kind of pain meds are you giving him. last we talked you mentioned tramadol and I have not been happy with this medication at all.. I was using it for my sweet catch after his surgery and didn't think it was to helpful, i have also used it as its a human drug to and its not much stronger than motrin, its just nasty stuff the Docs claim it to be non addicting and non narcotic for people and they are learning it is addicting and coming off it was horrnedous. there are better pain meds out there for your boy if you need them at this stage of the game, but you know that already, tigs is still on rimadyl now (2) 75 mgs per day and we are thinking of putting her on something stronger now as she is also in a lot of pain herself.
is he in pain now? I wish I could offer some help but I can't as I have not dealt with this before. I have heard of edema in legs but that was from a dog that has nasal cancer, for some reason it caused her front legs to swell and she was full of edema. it was so sad.. one thing that makes a great sling is an old canvas bag. you slit the sides and than place it under his belly and you will have handles to hoist him around with. it worked so good when we had to use it.. I know he is a big boy so its not easy lifting him around. Weight loss might help with his joint pain, is he still in the 100 pound weight catagory? I know at one time he was around 100 wasn't he? how is his weight now? I know he is a big boned boy so he won't be as light as most of our boys are, he is one of the biggest tallest boxers I have even seen and so handsome to. my heart aches for you Gary and I know how hard this must be for you and pat to see him declining as I know the feeling my ol gal is to (:(:. my heart goes out to you both and I hope what ever time zack has left are good times for him and for you and pat and that he is comfy, eating and abel to go potty outside still, this is so tough. maybe others will have some input????? anyone?????????

tears and hugs for you.
Lisa
