After 7+ years of fostering I've been through quite a few spays and neuters. Sometimes the girls don't even notice that they've had surgery. But the boys . . . they always notice! I don't think you'll need to do anything special. If he is obsessed with the incision you can use an e-collar (I kinda prefer the bite-not collar). You shouldn't have to worry about icing his scrotum unless the swelling is really, really bad. I've had a few where they get a lot of "bleeders" during the surgery and then the dog comes home with a scrotum twice as big as when he went in. The "keeping him quiet" part is always kind of a joke.

Good luck with Bunker's surgery!
