Tiger healed as much as possible after the 6 mos. He did have arthritis in both back knees [which he would have had even if he had had the surgery] but with the Glus/MSM [which became Synovi G3 in later years - the touch of creatine helped keep his muscle tone] he was comfortable on just aspirin until about a year before he went to the bridge.

But my house is one big orthapedic dog bed, some heated, some not. And he got daily massage from nose to toes to 'tub. That also helped keep him relaxed. I started the massage when he first hurt his knees and kept it up.

Unless there is a total tear of the muscles and tendons I would tend to go conservative at first [and if there was a total tear, she would not be able to put any weight on the leg at all]. Also, start trying to keep her lean - it really does help.
