Bah, to hell with "constructive posts about badfic." This seems constructive to me if something new is learned.

There's a difference between friends and stalkers. Why not read the entire original discussion? The sucking-up (i.e., testicle-licking) reference was to people who are overly protective of a board member with no real-life association between them. I would call them acquaintances at best.

How do you define "friend"? I consider a true friend to be someone who is always there when I need them, for anything, and who is willing to risk their life for me and I them.

>So you're mad at Heywood for coming to their defense?

Er, at what point did he defend them? His entire response was about the alleged implication that he was a statutory rapist. His entire response was all about him, and the only relevance to the acquaintances was some of their ages respective to Canada's age-of-consent. I would still respect him if he did defend their characters (and not their misguided behavior), but nothing of the sort was even mentioned, until you just posted about it here (or, rather, above).

The real point, here, is that I am urging caution in calling strangers your "friends" simply because of what you see of them through a medium (i.e., the Internet in this case).
