I agree, except that these are arguments over points and not free-form brawls, yet they haven't been resolved. Why? This and all the other issues I mentioned (e.g., criticism vs. flame, perception of such, etc.) stem from the largest issue of them all (and human nature in general): ego vs. pride and arrogance.

ego: self-worth or identity
pride: a measure of the ego
arrogance: a way of asserting the ego and pride

So long as criticisms are seen as attacks of the ego, and so long as mistakes are ignored for the sake of pride, arrogance ensures that mistakes will never be accepted, so the issue will never die. Stating this does not exempt me from this statement, but I am quite willing to accept mistakes, and I look forward to being proven wrong so that I may learn from my mistakes.
