I remember ezBoard offered the ability to open/close tiers. I'm sure the PHP script for such tiered boards exists, but I haven't looked for existing source on it. <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.phpbb.com/">http://www.phpbb.com/</a> is a good starting point, and that's open-source. So proper tiered boards do exist, and, if all else fails, we could always use a newsgroup in place of a tiered board.

I separated "discussion" from "comments"/"information". "Discussion" is non-specific, like our discussions on reasons for certain types of badfic, or discourses on what fanfiction and canon are, or general gabbery on virginity and sex vs. love. "Comments"/"information" refers to a specific badfic posted and comments made about it.
