Actually, no, it's not. Technically, a format like this _should_ be slightly quicker to load because it's all-text, versus loading all the graphics like avatars, icons, etc. In reality... it's offset more by service.

Actually, it does. Technically, you _could_ house all the posts on the other board in something like this, but I don't fancy redownloading several megabytes every time I go to refresh.

Well, in this format, it's not so much being prone to trolls as much as it's damaged far more by the trolls when they occur. It's more _vulnerable_ to trolls. Trolls bring the threads back to the top, and the thread expands to fill the page, bumping legit posts off. It's been seen before. Changing the format to the expand/contract-style would thus involve a different format.
