Because the idea that it might not be such a simple case of cause -> effect?

So... D&D, horror movies and violent videogames lead to unstable behaviour... hm. Okay, I can imagine how an obsessive fan could try an emulate the wrong things. Fine, I won't necessarily dismiss this concept out of hand. However, before I'm going to give it *any* weight, please tell me if the FBI (or any other reputable organization) has the following figures to supplement the single case you've cited of Manson: just what percentage of fans of horror movies, violent video games, and RPGS, is comprised by those you deem 'unbalanced'?

Give me some figures here: I'm honestly curious as to what are the odds that the White Wolf buff I talk to is going to try and drink my blood, or sacrifice me to his demonic masters? 1 in 10? 100? 10,000? Despite knowing a number of people who roleplay, or are horror movie buffs, or who play masses of violent video games, I've managed to survive so far. Come to think of it, I seem to have resisted the urge to join cults and practice dark magic despite my roleplaying. Hm, guess Mr Chick was wrong there as well.

  • It was on the old board. Happily, it's a fake. (NT) -- Non-Sock Puppet, Fri, Apr 23 2004, 15:32:59
