Were they completely deleted, or is the information still saved or archived somewhere?

I did notice that the TOS were changed only on April 7, 2004. I'm very surprised that an e-mail was never sent informing moderators and administrators of the changes, and I am equally surprised that the closure was effected only three days after the change with no prior notice.

Because this problem -- whimsical changes and moderation -- is inherent to and perfectly justifiable by private organizations, the only permanent safeguard would be the creation of a completely GAFF-owned site. Of course, such a measure would require donations from users, but I'm sure that the tremendous membership of GAFF would be able to help support the cause. Would only take $1 per member, but on a regular basis.

Any thoughts on the matter? Or am I way off-base here?
