Subject: My apologies that my flamer(s) followed me here

Hi folks,

I recently lost a contest with what I thought was an excellent piece for the genre. Honestly disappointed, I posted here hoping that someone would take pity on me and send me a pointer or two. I knew the prose was good, but obviously I wasn't appealing to my target market.

Anyway, it was then alleged that the person who beat me secretly owned the contest. Since you never know what's true on the Internet, I chose to ignore that and moved on to write my next fic.

However, I was then accused of accusing the contest winner of cheating. I never said any such thing. I am now being flamed on various boards and have been told I'm not welcome in the fandom. I think I'll lay low for a while.

For the record, I've never managed to beat that particular individual in ANY contest, so logic follows that the contest ownership was not the issue, and I'd still like to know why her style is more pleasing to the audience than my own.

In any case, I apologize for the fact that all of this disrupted the operation of a board that is normally quite enjoyable.
