Subject: No, Doyle hasn't turned into Natasha Ryan and run away from home, gone into hiding and pretended he's dead. He's back! And quite not-dead. Here is his reveiew of X-Men 2 **some spoilers**

X-men 2 was pretty darn good. It's better than Spider-man, that's for darn sure (incase you were unsure, I *really* didn't like Spider-man). Anyways, the good points included:

Nightcrawler. He just was a great new character and well portrayed by Alan Cumming (he played the pen-clicking computer geek in Goldeneye - Boris was his name and that's the role I've always associated with the actor) but getting back on topic, the guy just was *really* good as Nightcrawler complete with German accent and Bible-quoting. He was even comical in some parts. The opening of the movie featuring Nightcrawler teleporting was one of the most exciting movie openings I've seen and the effects involved were superb. He quickly became my fav male character in the movie.

As for my fav female character throughout the movie it's hard to choose. I always like Storm cause well...she's Halle Berry;) But I can understand now why ppl think that she's not very interesting. She did however have one good bit in the movie that involved a scene with Nightcrawler. She actually showed some feeling in that particular scene I thought. And I dunno 'bout anyone else but I thought maybe they were hinting at some kinda *thing* going on between the two (well, it was actually kinda *obvious* they were hinting at that and I for one would like to see it continue into the next movie. I mean, if they can have Rogue and Iceman getting together, why not Storm and Nightcrawler?)

However, I think the female character who stood out for me in this movie was Jean. In the first she just wasn't really that interesting for me (not that I had anything against her. She was alright) but in X2 she just had a better part to play, was more important to the movie and just was awhole lot better than she was in the first movie. It takes quite a bit to make me really be impressed with a character in a sequel whom I wasn't so impressed with in the original movie and Jean managed to impress me muchly:)

Even though Lady Deathstrike (the chick with the adamantium nails) only got *one* line in the movie (just like Mystique only got one like in the first X-Men) she still kicked arse. Sure, I can't tell a whole lot about the character from what little we saw of her but I *do* know she can kick arse. She shares one of the best fights in the movie with Wolverine (tho the way the fight was filmed didn't show the contact Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike made with each other too clear). We basically just got the point that they were stabbing the crap outta each other with their adamatium claws/nails. I really hope she returns in the next movie so she can be more developed like Mystique was in this second film.

Speaking of Mystique, she was (as I just said) more developed in this movie. After being rather disappointed at her getting only one line in the first movie (like I was with Lady Deathstrike in *this* one) I was pleased to see/hear her speak more in X2. She even played more of an important role in this movie than just the female badguy who gets to kick wolverine's arse. And I had TOTALLY thought to myself before seeing X2, "Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (the actress who portrays Mystique) should shapeshift into her actual self. She should appear *as* Rebecca Romijn-Stamos" and sure enough, in this film she does! I actually had quite a laugh when we saw it was her appearing in the movie without make-up. 'Twas a good in-joke.

This review's getting rather long already (why can't I ever write a short review of anything? Well, I 'spose I *could* but I'd only do a short review for a movie I disliked). The movie as a whole was more *exciting* than the first but I felt myself missing some of what was in the first one. I'm not quite sure what. The one character who irritated me in X2 was Pyro (the dude with the cigarette lighter who manipulated fire) he just really pissed me off. Won't get into detail why. And when that female student did that inhuman scream as the mansion was attacked I wanted to say aloud, "Thank Glory!" as she got tranquilized by a soldier. There were some annoying ppl sitting around where I was talking through the movie and shit and I really wanted to tell 'em to shut up but refrained. I just sighed heavily alot hoping they'd take the hint. They didn't. The last bit ya see in the movie I thought was a nice touch. Bring on X3!
