I think both views are pertinent. We know Saddam is bad. However, I think we really are hypocitical in the West. In this respect I go along with Suggs. We really do kill more people.

In a copy of The Observer (UK) newspaper, Dr. Eric Herring of Bristol University, a sanctions specialist, wrote in his report,

'comprehensive economic sanctions remain in place. Those policy-makers who backed the sanctions cannot say that they did not know what was going to happen. Whatever the political purpose, it was a conscious and callous choice to deny an entire society the means necessary to survive'.

The British created Iraq after WW2 and since then we've armed the regime, together with the Russians, French and US - never more so than under Saddam's rule. We've got to face up to the fact that are reaping that which we have sown.

I think in common with most people, because I'm anti-war doesn't mean I'm pro-Saddam either.
