2005 BUCKEYE NATIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
The 2005 Buckeye Nationals Championship Series is a short three (3) race series for the
Unlimited, the 600 Restricted and the 270 Class of Modified Midgets. No memberships are necessary to participate in these events. Racers must participate in all 3 race events to be eligible for any championship awards at the end of the series. There is guaranteed payout at EACH event.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14th “NON-WING EVENT”
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21st “WINGED EVENT”
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28th “LEADERS CHOICE”
Points Leader of each class after the first 2 races will decide whether their last race is “WINGED” or “NON-WINGED”.

Rules/General Car Specifications



Roll Cage – must be at least 1” ” .085 thickness, or 1 1/8” .065 thickness, or 1 ¼” .065 thickness and made of chromoly steel or equivalent. Roll cage must be a minimum of 3” above driver’s helmet. All edges must be rounded, no square or pointed edges allowed. There must be a cross brace installed behind the seat to support the shoulder harness.



Bumpers – cars must have bumpers extending beyond the front and rear tires. Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of tires to the bumpers. No sharp corners or design as to hook or damage. Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge of the tires or wheels, whichever is widest.



Nerf Bars – all cars must be equipped with nerfing bars that do not extend beyond the outside edge of tire or wheel, whichever is widest.



Tread Width – Maximum tread width is 52”, minimum is 32” from center to center of tires.



Wheelbase – Maximum wheelbase is 70”, minimum is 50”, center of front axle to center of rear axle.



Rear Wheel Drive – only. No front wheel drive cars allowed.



Bodies – All cars must have complete bodies and be “sprint car” in design. Bodies must be made of aluminum, metal, fiberglass or high impact plastic.



Fuel Tanks – All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel from the fuel tank vent in the event of a rollover.



Numbers – All cars must have legible numbers on nose, nose wing (if applicable), each side of tail tank, each side and top of wing (if applicable). If track scorers have issue with reading numbers and/or scoring a car, they will promptly advise driver/owner and recommend a temporary solution for the evening. All cars must have the drivers name somewhere visible on car.



Ballast – All ballast must be firmly attached as a part of the cars structure and painted with the car number. No liquid or loose ballast such as water, rocks, sandbags, etc. will be allowed.



Traction Control Devices – Strictly prohibited in all classes. They may not even be present, but disconnected.



Belly Pans – are mandatory from the leading edge of seat up to the throttle/brake mounts and must be sufficient to insure drivers feet will not come into contact with the racing surface itself. Belly pans must be mounted with dzus fasteners or bolted on.



Belly Pans – are mandatory and must extend from 6” in front of drivers feet to the front edge of seat. Belly pans must be mounted with dzus fasteners or bolted on.



Chain Guards – are mandatory and must be of sufficient strength and width so as to protect driver. The intent of this rule is only to protect driver from being able to reach the chain with his/her hand while in the car.



Top Wings – Mandatory in all classes except wingless. The only exception will be in the event of a rollover where a replacement wing is unavailable to finish that event. Wings may not extend beyond the outside edge of rear tires. All wings must have a rolled edge – no sharp edges. No wood except for ribs or spars inside center section. Wing must be installed so as not to obstruct drivers vision regardless of wing position.



Fuel – Methanol, Ethanol, Gasoline and Racing Gasoline. Absolutely no performance enhancing additives allowed. Anyone caught running “hot” fuel will be indefinitely disqualified from the entire series. The UMSRA recommends anyone running gasoline to have a “bladdered” fuel tank.. Absolutely NO pressurized gases (nitrous, etc.) allowed.



Transmission – Any type motorcycle transmission is legal. All shift levers must be located inside the driver’s compartment.



Radio Communication - is strictly prohibited on the track.



Rearview Mirrors – are strictly prohibited.



Chain Driven – All engines must remain chain driven off of the original countershaft.



Tires/Wheels – any tire and wheel combination may be used, but tires may not exceed twenty-three (23) inches in height.

NON-WING classes: No top or front wings. Wing trees must be removed. No extended side panels. All cars subject to track officals inspedtion and approval.

600 Restricted class- Right Rear tire must durometer 50 within 15 ninutes of the end of the event. Ages 10 to 16 years old.

270 class-600 pounds
600 Restricted class-750 pounds
Unlimited class-600 cc engines @ 750 pounds; 400 cc and smaller engines 650 pounds
