Tony, I suppose losing a mate at our age, or any age is traumatic, to say the least. And it doesn't get any easier the older you get! There are always regrets especially when you consider that there is so much that you wanted to say , but didn't, and now you feel cheated because you will never get the opportunity to do so! The amount of good friends that I've lost in recent years, who I lost contact with, and found out that they had passed on. The only consulation is the memories that you have of that person and as long as you don't forget the special bond that developed between you, then you will always cherish the memories. Many people influence our lives, and friendships are very important, as they make us what we are! Friends are easier to confide in than family members are to a degree, as usually they tell you the truth and not what the easy option that a family member would go for!
Staying in contact is important, but then again, not always possible to maintain. Thats why I believe it is so important to keep the Reunions going for as long as we are able to do so. I find it truly amazing that most of us can still enjoy each others company especially over a few drinks and still reflect on our youth. Long may it continue!
By the way, thanks for the e-mail, apologises for not replying sooner but certain committments have kept me busy, though that is no excuse. Will try to keep in contact never the less. As for the writing, I have still got certain items on the back burner. Need more alcoholic refreshment to fine tune the old grey-matter. I will continue, but at a slower pace. More to the point, how is yours coming along?........Well I hope!
Will hope to see you both in September, as I believe Terry has something planned for me to do in regards these festivities. Take care out there! Speak to you again soon.
Regards Jim.
