Jim, I don't recall ever doing a guard at Bramcote. I am not 100% sure but I don't think boys did them? Certainly remember doing Fire Picket with the old fire cart. In fact, I had the dubious honour of attending one of the, very rare, actual fires on the camp. Only a small thing in one of the hangers but by the time we had run to the guardroom, collected the fire truck and run up to the hanger, we were so knackered that it was just as well it only took a couple of buckets of water to put it out, most of us were just lying on the ground gasping! Did the fire alarm still consist of an old WW2 air raid siren in the seventies?
