Dave, I don't think it very plausible that Johnny Gurkha would go to those extremes on checking the boot laces before slitting your throat. Why didn't he just check whether the arse end had made in Japan stenciled on it! I think the reason that the British Army never went in for cross-dressing when it came down to laces was I believe down to practicalities as method was easier to loosen and cut off if injury occurred, plus it looked smarter, remembering of course that they were then made of leather in them days.
Dave, I need your assistance, as two heads are better than one, so to speak! I'm doing some Research for Terry Walton concerning the Regiment and particularly the Battery. We are trying to trace where they were during WW11.
We know what they were doing from '47 onwards, but are having difficulty between 1938-45. We think that they were with 16 Fld Regt under 2 Inf Div in Burma towards the end of the War. Then they were designated 42 Fld Regt from Apr1947. The problem arises that different sites have various discrepancies in accountable facts relating to the issue in question. We are trying to get a background of where the Regiment served and in what context during the many conflicts that were evident in that period of time.
Any help would be much appreciated in collating actual facts from fiction. A lot of stuff on the various web-sites is open to interpretation and is not accurrate for one reason or another! Maybe you have some contacts out there who could point us in the right direction in regards obtaining what we want in relevant information on the matter in question. Its going to be interesting to see what we can dig up regarding the history !.....Don't you think?
